We are a family
run business located in the heart of the beautiful Severn Vale and
we sincerely believe in rearing our cattle the way nature intended
In order to enhance the flavour
of our meat, from spring onwards our cattle are left to mature slowly
whilst they roam and graze on lush green grass that has not been touched
by artificial fertilisers, pesticides or herbicides. In the winter
months they are housed and fed the sweet organic grass crops that have
been harvested from the land during the summer.

Our beef is produced from
Hereford Cross and Aberdeen Angus Cross cattle. Both breeds have the
unique ability to thrive under natural grassland production systems and
they are also renowned for their ‘marbling’ characteristics.
This is the white flecks that appear throughout a quality cut of beef
and is responsible for producing tender, juicy beef. |
| The
organic approach means our cattle have no routine drug treatments,
growth promoters or genetically modified products, (naturally we are
quick to treat any sick animals, whilst being guided by the ‘Organic
Farmers & Growers Regulations, however, good handling and husbandry
sees that this is minimised) this in turn means that these chemicals
are not consumed by you either.
Once our cattle are ready
they are taken to Ensors Abattoir in Cinderford. Here they are hung
for a minimum of two weeks in order to give the meat maximum flavour
and texture. Once it has been cut and packed, it is returned to Lowgoods
Farm where it is prepared, labelled and boxed. Depending on when your
order is received, it can be bought fresh or frozen (please call us
to discuss your requirements).
